description of pub:
Welcome to The Red Lion Inn, a privately owned free house pub restaurant with bed & breakfast accommodation that has resided at the heart of the pretty conservation village of Hinxton, Cambridgeshire since the 16th Century, and is run by landlord Alex Clarke.
A Grade II listed building provides the setting for the original bar with green chesterfield leather sofas and well-stoked fire.
An impressive new oak, dry peg, extension offers a more airy and spacious dining room in a classic and sympathetic style.
The walled garden has a quintessentially English setting with tables laid our on mown lawns, a wysteria-clad arbour rail and a patio with parasols, all overlooked by the dovecote and village church clock tower.
The eight guest rooms have just been sympathetically built within the grounds to exacting standards. All are double en suite with direct dial telephone and internet access (modem and wireless).
Our pub restaurant menu is a mix of contemporary and traditional dishes. All our dishes are cooked to order using primarily fresh local produce.
We are proud that we continue to retain our listing in The Good Food Guide, Good Pub Guide, Good Beer Guide and Near the Motorways. We are also pleased to be included in the exclusive Alastair Sawday publications, as well as having been awarded 4 AA Stars for our accommodation and an AA Rosette for our food. All these publications are based purely on merit. This is a great credit to our team.
The realtime and generally reliable Trip Advisor reviews appear to back up all of the above too.
We are reliant on feedback from our customers to ensure that future visits are even more enjoyable. You can do this by filling out the form on our contact page  wed be delighted to hear from you (and we will enter you into the monthly draw).
You can be sure of a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere at The Red Lion Inn, whether you are looking for a traditional pub restaurant meal, a quiet drink or bed & breakfast accommodation and we look forward to seeing you soon.
